The Nuclear Problem......

This is a very interesting power point lecture from an evolutionary biologist on nuclear power and the effects on the environment. Like he says the things that go on in the nuclear industry are unknown to most such as most /all nuclear power stations constantly release radiation into the environment legally and also occasionally illegally. As he says with the aging of the majority of plants the potential for release into the environment is growing and there is already a lot of radiation out there. This is a quote from him  “It’s really a dead zone” in areas of Fukushima — “Huge impacts… there are no butterflies, no birds… many dramatically fewer species” — “Why does it matter to you in the U.S.? The reason is, it’s coming, it is coming” The many waves of die offs that have been happening on the west coast of the US over the past two years is just a precursor to what is coming to the people of the northern hemisphere, and eventually it will reach us. If you have an interest in the effects of radiation on the environment I would highly recommend this talk,I found it quite enlightening.
